F.I.R.E. COACHES - The philosophy of successful youth coaches:

FIRE Coaches believe that football presents a unique opportunity for young athletes to harness their physical abilities, learn how to work as a team, battle through adversity, and display leadership.  This is accomplished through some very simple techniques:

  • Don't tell.  Do teach.
  • Instruct the fundamentals.  Improve technique of each athlete.
  • Provide honest, easy-to-understand feedback.  Explain the "why's."
  • Display a contagious love of the game.
  • Be a role model.
  • Keep the athletes hydrated at all times.
F.I.R.E. PHILOSOPHY

F - FOCUS    - How do I get focused for each play, each practice, & each game?
I - INTENSITY   - Will I set out with maximum intensity?
R - RESPECT    - Will I show respect to the game, my teammates, & my opponents?
E - EFFORT       - Did I give my maximum mental and physical effort?
F.I.R.E. ATHLETES - There are only four requirements:

1. Always act with honesty and integrity.
2. Stay hydrated!
3. Give 100% mentally and physically on every snap.
4. Do your part to enjoy each moment you spend on the field!

F.I.R.E. CAMP - The plan for successful improvement:

  • Athletes are grouped by (1) age (2) size and (3) ability.
  • Progress from instruction, to repetition, to simulation.
  • Instill a desire to improve.
  • Provide a rock-solid base of fundamental practices.
  • Develop a plan that includes drills each athlete can take away from camp.
  • Provide adequate hydration breaks.
